A. Our office provides 24-hour emergency care, 7 days a week. We prefer seeing your child during regular office hours when our staff can assist us. If an emergency occurs after hours, don't hesitate to call our office and you will be directed to either of us or if we are unavailable, then we will have another qualified pediatric dentist on call for us.
A. Contact our office as soon as possible.
A. Rinse the knocked out tooth in cool water. Do not scrub the tooth. If possible, replace the tooth in the socket and hold it there with clean gauze. If you can't put the tooth back into the socket, place the tooth in a container of milk (water if milk is not available.) Come to our office immediately. Feel free to call our emergency number if it is after hours. The tooth has a better chance of being saved if you act immediately.
A. Contact our office as soon as possible. Time is of the essence! Our goal is to save the tooth and prevent infection. Rinse the mouth out with water, apply a cold compress to the lips where injured to reduce swelling. If the fractured tooth portion is in one piece, place it in some milk and bring it with you. It is possible that it could be bonded back to the tooth.
A. Depending on the severity of the pain, medicate with analgesics (such as Tylenol or Advil) and try to hold off calling the office until our normal business hours. If the pain is too much to bear, then call our office at any time, and we will assess the problem and treat as necessary.
A. Sport related dental injuries can be reduced or prevented by wearing mouth guards. There are several different types available - some over the counter at local pharmacies and others that we custom make in our office. Check with us. Child proofing your home can help reduce injuries at home. In addition, regular dental check ups will contribute to preventative care.
We monitor our contact requests several times a day and will usually reply within one business day during open hours.
