Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The technical term for these problems is “malocclusion”, which means “bad bite.”
The results of orthodontic treatment can often times be dramatic-beautiful smiles, improved dental health, and an enhanced quality of life for people of all ages. Orthodontic problems must be diagnosed before treatment begins. Proper diagnosis often times involves careful study of photographs, x-rays, and dental impressions. During your child’s routine dental checkups in our office, we will be constantly monitoring his or her development with regard to any orthodontic needs. We will be sure to refer you to a qualified orthodontist at the appropriate time. Through the years we have developed excellent working relationships with many local orthodontists that we feel are well trained and have similar standards and ideals as ours.
